Saudi Arabia wins bid to host football Asia cup 2027

Saudi Arabia has been chosen as the host country for the 2027 Asian Cup, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on Wednesday.

The announcement was made during the AFC Congress in Bahrain’s capital, Manama. After India withdrew in December, Saudi Arabia was the only bidder left.

After the announcement, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the kingdom’s minister of sports, said, “We are thrilled to provide the biggest tournament in the sport’s history.”

The AFC Executive Committee selected the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) as the two finalists to host the Asian Cup in 2027 in October 2022 after carefully weighing their bids.

The world’s largest oil exporter, Saudi Arabia, has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on lucrative sporting events like the LIV Golf Tour, the Jeddah Formula One, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s signing.
