Pakitan Railways to Launch Booking and Travel Assist App

Pakistan Railways is getting ready to roll out a brand-new initiative called Railway Automated Booking & Travel Assistance (RABTA). In order to boost productivity through the use of information technology (IT), the Federal Railways Minister signed a joint venture agreement with two Chinese companies.

The RABTA app, which enables travelers to book lodging, cabs, and meals, will be made available as a result of this partnership.

The railway’s minister announced an Rs. 9 surcharges per rail ticket and that discussions with the government about an excise tax on airline tickets will take place. The app also allows users to schedule shipments and monitor train schedules.

It is acknowledged as a critical step in the modernization of the Railways’ business practices that the app is made available thanks to the revenue-sharing agreement with China.

In the meantime, Pakistan Railways raised train fares on February 1 by 8%, with the exception of the Green Line, in response to the recent gasoline price increase.

According to a representative for the Railways, the recent increase in diesel prices cost the department Rs. 10 million per day, so a tariff increase was necessary.
