WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Convert Voice Messages Into Text

The WhatsApp status feature has recently received a ton of updates, but there will be many more in the future. One of those options will be voice notes transcription.

It was discovered when WhatsApp first started working on this feature in September 2021, but progress was halted for reasons that are still unknown. However, it appears that the company has resumed development on WhatsApp for iOS as of the most recent beta (23.3.0.73).

The latest information can always be found on the WABetaInfo blog, which monitors WhatsApp features.

As the screenshot demonstrates, WhatsApp has started to create a warning that indicates when there is no transcription for audio messages. Transcripts won’t function, according to the statement, if the app doesn’t recognize any words or if the transcripts aren’t set to the language used in the sender’s messages.

Additionally, you have the choice of changing the language used for transcriptions.

The necessary language packs are always used to locally transcribe these voice notes on the device. You are the only one who can access the information in your voice notes because they are never shared with WhatsApp or Apple. Be mindful that this functionality might only be accessible on iOS 11 or later.

When you receive a voice message but can’t immediately listen to it, such as when you’re using Bluetooth speakers to listen to music, such a feature should be helpful.

This feature should eventually go live even though there isn’t an official release date set in stone just yet; it just recently entered beta testing once more.
