The feature was reportedly discovered in the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.3.0.73, according to a WaBetaInfo report. According to the report, WhatsApp will add an introduction screen to explain when the transcription is not available, while also sharing a screenshot of the upcoming feature. Transcripts won’t be available when the voice note contains no words that are recognized or is set to a language other than English, as shown in the shared image.
The report claims that voice notes are always translated locally on the user’s device by WhatsApp. Users might be prompted to download necessary language packs, which are never shared with Apple or WhatsApp. This indicates that the information in the message will only apply to you. However, the feature might only be compatible with recent iOS versions.

In other news, it’s been said that WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will let desktop users share videos and photos in their original quality. Currently, images shared via WhatsApp are automatically compressed, which lowers the quality of the images. Users will be able to send images in their original quality with the new feature, maintaining their resolution and clarity.
According to the WaBetaInfo report, users will still be able to share photos using the conventional compression technique when this feature is made available to beta testers. Those who want to save storage space will find it helpful. The report states that it will always be the default choice. Readers should be aware that sending photos through WhatsApp in their original quality is currently in development and will be available in a future app update.
