According to news reports, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has published a list of luxury goods that will be subject to a 25% sales tax.
GOVT PLANNING ON TAXING ALL CASH AND ONLINE BANKING TRANSACTIONS
In the fiscal year (FY) 2022–2023, it is anticipated that the FBR’s decision to raise the sales tax on a number of luxury and non–essential imports will generate PKR 15 billion. Listed below is a list of the things:
- Home appliances, crockery, doors, window frames, furniture, heaters, blowers, kitchenware, luxury leather clothing, luxury mattresses, sleeping bags, salon supplies (hairdryers), tissue paper, and bathroom ware/toiletries are examples of household items.
- Personal items include automobiles (CBU), firearms and ammunition, pet food, clothing, accessories, headphones and loudspeakers, sunglasses, shaving supplies, and musical instruments.
- Food and beverages: candy, jams and jellies, fish and frozen fish, sauces, ketchup, fruits, dry fruits, preserved fruits, cornflakes, frozen meat, juices, aerated water, ice cream, and chocolates.
