New Passport Counters to Be Set Up at Nadra Centers

In order to help applicants, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday gave the go-ahead for establishing passport counters at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centers.

While presiding over a meeting on hassle-free access to passports and computerized national identity cards (CNICs), the prime minister stated that the move would benefit the general public and lessen the burden on the national exchequer.

He has asked NADRA and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) to combine their efforts to make the partnership a reality.

Shehbaz Sharif ordered the establishment of counters at the NADRA centers for all previously approved new passport offices.

He also instructed the NADRA to increase the number of mobile vans that deliver services to CNIC applicants right to their door. A new consumer-focused mobile phone application for CNIC renewal, to be released soon by NADRA, was announced at the meeting.
