By enabling users to log into the same account on multiple phones, WhatsApp is extending the functionality of its multi-device service.

On as many as five different phones, one WhatsApp account may be used. The process for connecting WhatsApp on new phones is the same as it is for tablets, desktop computers, and web browsers.
Your messages, media, and phone conversations will all continue to be end-to-end encrypted because each paired phone creates its own unique connection to WhatsApp.
Additionally, all companion devices will be automatically logged out if your primary phone is inactive “for a long period” (WhatsApp does not specify a specific time frame).
