PSO Introduces Special Lane for Female Customers

At one of its filling stations, Pakistan State Oil Company (PSO) has set aside a special lane for female drivers. An energetic pink fuel dispenser and a sizable banner featuring a female driver can be seen in the lane.

This initiative is seen by the public as a step toward giving female drivers convenience priority. Netizens applauded this action and noted that it would greatly reduce waiting times for everyone.
However, there has been a range of responses to this development overall.

The initiative was mocked by some people, while others believed it was useless. This action was considered offensive by some due to potential discrimination. However, the majority of the women for whom it is intended have given the step positive attention.

Sales Decline

In comparison to April 2022, when 2.18 million tonnes of petroleum were sold, sales in Pakistan fell significantly, by 46 percent YoY, to 1.17 million tonnes in April 2023.

According to data provided by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), the overall sales volume from July through April of 2022–23 (10MFY23) decreased by 24 percent YoY to reach 13.97 million tonnes.

As a result, sales at Pakistan’s three largest Oil Marketing Companies (OMC), Shell, Attock, and PSO, have decreased by 22-25%. The overall fuel sales increased by 6% on a month-over-month (MoM) basis.

The petroleum sector sales are probably going to stay low for the foreseeable future as the economy is still hanging by a thread.
