There is no proof that the Covid-19 virus was developed in the Wuhan research lab of the Chinese government, according to the head of US intelligence on Friday.
According to a declassified report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), there is no evidence to support recent claims that three scientists at the lab were among the first people to contract Covid-19 and may have even invented the virus.

The ODNI report claimed that some scientists at the Wuhan lab had genetically modified coronaviruses similar to Covid-19. This claim was based on information gathered by various member agencies of the US intelligence community (IC).
However, the United States “has no information” indicating that it had conducted such research on the specific Covid-9 virus, also known as SARS-CoV-2, or on any “close progenitor, or a backbone virus that is closely related enough to have been the source of the pandemic.”

A fuller explanation of US intelligence’s information on the causes of the pandemic that broke out at the end of 2019 was demanded by lawmakers three months prior to the publication of the report, which was created for Congress and contained an unreleased classified annexe.
Some lawmakers claim that Wuhan’s so-called gain-of-function genetic engineering research is what gave rise to the virus and that Beijing hid evidence that the illness was a result of human intervention.

According to the ODNI report, “almost all” of its constituent agencies, including the NSA, the CIA, and the FBI, assess that Covid-19 was not genetically engineered, and the majority also believe that it was not laboratory-adapted, reiterating a conclusion made public in March.
