The PDA, led by the outspoken Chairman Abdul Sami Khan, is heavily urging the government to raise the profit per liter to 5% because they believe that the current margin, which is currently set at 6 rupees and 2.4 percent per liter, is woefully insufficient.
The crux of the PDA’s argument lies in the plight of petrol pumps with lower sales, which are allegedly facing mounting losses and, in some unfortunate cases, even being forced to shut down.

The association claims that these closures are primarily attributed to the meager profit margins they receive from the government. With such slim margins, these struggling petrol dealers find it increasingly challenging to sustain their businesses and meet operational costs.
The PDA’s nationwide strike is a bold move aimed at drawing the government’s attention to these critical issues plaguing the petroleum industry. By bringing the entire nation’s fuel supply to a standstill, the association aims to create a sense of urgency and emphasize the gravity of the situation.

The PDA is calling for a fairer and more reasonable profit margin for all petrol dealers across the country, which they believe will not only safeguard the interests of the dealers but also ensure a stable and reliable fuel distribution system for the public.
The consequences of the strike could be significant, as it may disrupt transportation, businesses, and daily life for millions of citizens. The government now faces the challenge of finding a balanced solution that addresses the legitimate concerns of the PDA while considering the larger economic implications and the welfare of the general public.
