In a bid to offer more options and flexibility to citizens seeking e-passports, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has introduced a comprehensive fee schedule that encompasses different passport types, page counts, and validity periods.
The new fee structure aims to cater to a diverse range of individuals while accommodating both standard and urgent passport application requirements.
For individuals seeking a 36-page e-passport with a validity period of five years, the fee has been set at Rs. 9,000. This option provides an affordable choice for those who require a passport for short-term travel needs. However, for applicants in urgent need of a passport, an expedited e-passport with the same specifications will incur a fee of Rs. 15,000.
Applicants with the need for a larger page count will also find the new fee schedule accommodating. A 72-page e-passport with a standard five-year validity period will cost Rs. 16,500. For those requiring this larger passport type urgently, the fee has been set at Rs. 27,000.
Moreover, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports recognizes the demand for longer validity periods, especially for frequent travelers. As such, they have introduced options for ten-year validity passports as well.
A 36-page e-passport with a decade-long validity period will require a fee of Rs. 13,500, while the urgent processing fee for the same will be Rs. 22,500. Similarly, a 72-page e-passport with a ten-year validity period will cost Rs. 24,750 for standard processing, and Rs. 40,500 for urgent processing.
It is important to note that the normal passport fees for all categories will remain unchanged, ensuring a consistent and accessible pricing structure for citizens who opt for standard processing times.
This new fee schedule, effective from August 16, is a result of meticulous planning and consideration by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. By providing a tiered pricing model that aligns with different passport types and processing urgency, the Directorate aims to cater to the diverse needs of the citizens while maintaining a reliable and efficient passport issuance process.
Citizens seeking e-passports are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the revised fee structure to make informed decisions based on their travel plans and requirements. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports remains committed to providing seamless passport services and looks forward to serving the citizens with enhanced convenience and flexibility through this new fee schedule.
