Here is the Hanafi method for performing Namaz-e-Janaza:

  1. The Muqtada (the one leading the prayer) should make the intention silently.
  2. The Imam and the Muqtada should both raise their hands up to their ears and, while saying “Allahu Akbar,” immediately bring them down to the bottom of the navel.
  3. Begin reciting the verses, and after mentioning the Almighty, recite “Wajjal Sanauk wala Allah Ghairak.”
  4. Say “Allahu Akbar” again without raising your hands.
  5. Recite Drood Ibrahim (the supplication for blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad).
  6. Say “Allahu Akbar” once more without raising your hands.
  7. Now, recite the specific dua (supplication) silently if you are the Imam and aloud if you are the follower.
  8. Proceed to read all the remaining Azkar (invocations and supplications) slowly.
