The central bank confirmed the closure in a circular it released today, extending the holiday to commercial banks as well. Consequently, banks will remain shut for three consecutive days, including Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
The Cabinet Division, responsible for releasing the annual list of public holidays, designates February 5th as a nationwide public holiday. This signifies a collective observance across the country to express solidarity and support for the people of Kashmir.
The closure of both the State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks during this period underlines the significance of Kashmir Day, allowing individuals to participate in events and activities commemorating the day without disruptions in financial services.
