The CM Mohsin Naqvi-led Caretaker Punjab government has made great progress toward ending corruption in the granting of weapons licenses.
To enhance transparency, the process has been made available online through the Punjab Arms Licence Management System (PALMS), a collaborative effort between the provincial Home Department and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). CM Mohsin Naqvi formally inaugurated the PALMS portal, which not only facilitates online issuance but also allows for the renewal of arms licences across Punjab.
Additionally, the platform supports the online transfer of licences to heirs, and applicants can conveniently receive their licences at their doorstep. CM Naqvi emphasised that this system aims to eradicate corruption from the arms licence issuance process.
He praised the successful implementation of the automatic system for issuing licenses for firearms and the efforts of Home Secretary Mian Shakeel Ahmed and Additional Secretary Home (Judicial) Department Farwa Aamir in launching the online portal.
The agreement for this initiative was signed by the Government of Punjab Interior Secretary and the DG NADRA. The event was attended by the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General NADRA Sohail Jahangir, Director Arms NADRA, and other relevant officials.
