The Sindh government launched two new routes for its women-exclusive pink bus service on Monday, along with announcing two months of complimentary travel.
The new routes named “R3” and “R9” were introduced to the delight of commuters at a special inauguration event presided over by Faryal Talpur, a People’s Party member of the Sindh Assembly.
Route ‘R3’ runs from Chowrangi North Karachi to Nasir Jump Korangi, while ‘R9’ connects Gulshan-e-Hadid to Tower, offering improved connectivity for women across different parts of the city.
To mark the occasion, ten new pink buses were added to the service’s fleet, reflecting the government’s dedication to prioritizing women’s safety and convenience in public transportation.
In a generous gesture, the Sindh government announced two months of free travel exclusively for female commuters on the pink bus service.
Additionally, the event featured a symbolic moment of empowerment as Faryal Talpur handed out licenses to four female drivers, highlighting progress towards gender inclusion and employment opportunities in the transportation sector.
In her statement, Faryal Talpur praised Senior Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and the provincial government for their unwavering commitment to advancing women’s welfare and mobility in Karachi.
