Provincial ministers Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Saeed Ghani have announced the launch of a free air ambulance service by the Sindh government under the Local Government Council Association. This initiative aims to fulfil the vision of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The service is made possible through an agreement between the Sindh Local Council Association and the aircraft company ASSL. This agreement will ensure that critical medical transport facilities are accessible to people across the province.
Addressing circulating rumours on social media about changes to the Sindh governor and cabinet, Saeed Ghani emphasized that the air ambulance service will facilitate the transportation of patients from Ghotki, Sukkur, and Khairpur to Karachi for medical care.
Minister Syed Nasir Shah highlighted the significance of the agreement with ASSL Aviation, which involves the three local councils of Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur. He acknowledged the challenges in transporting patients from cities six hours away from Karachi and called this new service a significant achievement in addressing those challenges.
Shah expressed his happiness, stating that the launch of the air ambulance service aligns with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He added that the service will soon extend to other cities such as Hyderabad, Thar, Nawabshah, and Larkana, with plans to operate from airstrips in Badin.
Syed Kamil Haider Shah, Chairman of the Sindh Local Council Association, mentioned that the air ambulance service will enable patients from South Punjab and North Sindh to reach Karachi for medical care, potentially saving lives. He clarified that the district councils of Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur will contract with ASSL Aviation, which will provide five free flights per month for these districts.
Akbar Jafri, CEO of Airlift Sales and Services, confirmed that their company is already offering air ambulance services across Pakistan, transporting patients from cities like Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Quetta. He affirmed that patients from Sukkur, Ghotki, and Kashmore can now be shifted to Karachi using this new service.
