Electricity Bills Slashed by Rs. 14 Per Unit For Punjab Consumers

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), announced that the Punjab government would substantially relieve Rs. 14 per unit on electricity bills for consumers using up to 500 units. This relief will be reflected in the bills for August and September, benefiting a large segment of the population.

In a media briefing in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif, alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, revealed that the provincial government has allocated Rs. 45 billion to support this initiative. The goal is to ease the financial burden on electricity consumers amidst rising costs.

Furthermore, Nawaz Sharif highlighted another major initiative by the Punjab government—a Rs. 700 billion solar program designed to provide sustainable relief to the middle class. This program aims to reduce dependency on traditional energy sources and promote renewable energy solutions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his support for the package. He praised the decision to cut electricity rates by Rs. 14 per unit for consumers using up to 500 units monthly, describing it as a significant, people-centric initiative led by Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister. In a statement issued by the PM Office, he emphasized the importance of such measures in providing tangible relief to the public.
