The 2025 MG ZS, a much-awaited model, is scheduled for its official unveiling on August 26, 2024. MG has already started building excitement by sharing teaser images on social media, hinting at a bold new design direction.
The teaser reveals significant updates to the front end, including a new grille, redesigned headlights, and other stylistic changes that align with the latest MG HS and MG 3 hatchback models.
The new ZS is not just about exterior changes; it promises a host of updates inside as well. Recently, a camouflaged version of the vehicle was spotted in Sydney, giving enthusiasts a sneak peek at the interior. The spy shots suggest a revamped cabin featuring a squared-off steering wheel, a T-bar shifter, and a larger infotainment touchscreen flanked by separated air vents.
Engine and Powertrain Options
The 2025 MG ZS is set to offer a range of powertrains, including a new Hybrid+ option. This hybrid system, which is also present in the MG 3, combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a total power output of 158 kW. This setup is expected to provide enhanced fuel efficiency and performance compared to the standard petrol variants.
For those who prefer conventional engines, the ZS will continue to offer petrol-powered options. This includes a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine as well as a turbocharged version. The turbocharged engine, similar to what is found in the MG 5 and the outgoing MG HS, is expected to produce around 119 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque.
Launch Timeline
The new MG ZS is slated to hit the Australian market in the fourth quarter of 2024, starting with petrol models. The hybrid variant will be introduced in 2025, with an updated ZS EV potentially following in 2026.
Although there has been no official word from MG Pakistan regarding the launch of an updated ZS, the right-hand-drive configuration in both Australia and Pakistan suggests that MG Pakistan could easily import the necessary CKD (Completely Knocked Down) or CBU (Completely Built Unit) kits to bring the new ZS to the Pakistani market.
