O/A Level Exam Schedule Announced

The upcoming O Level and A Level examinations, administered by Cambridge Assessment International Education, are set to commence on April 25 and run through June 13.

Around 100,000 students from various parts of Pakistan are expected to participate in the May/June 2024 examination session. Karachi alone will host over 40,000 candidates, including 15,000 private candidates from across the nation.

Notably, approximately 6,000 students in Karachi have chosen to sit for the Cambridge exams independently. To facilitate smooth exam administration, nearly 100 examination centres have been set up nationwide, with around 20 centers in Karachi to accommodate a large number of candidates.

Examining the academic preferences of Pakistani students, certain subjects stand out as perennial favorites within the Cambridge O Level and A Level curricula. Popular O Level subjects include Pakistan Studies, Islamiat, mathematics, English, and Urdu, while Level students tend to favor physics, mathematics, business, chemistry, and computer science, reflecting their diverse academic interests and career aspirations.

With approximately 800 schools across Pakistan affiliated with the Cambridge curriculum, students have access to a globally recognized standard of education. Karachi, in particular, boasts around 200 schools dedicated to delivering comprehensive Cambridge education to aspiring learners.

O Levels and A Levels, offered by Cambridge Assessment International Education, are globally recognized qualifications typically taken by students in their final years of high school. O Levels, akin to the GCSEs in the UK, cover a broad range of subjects and are usually undertaken around age 16. A Levels, taken at a more advanced level, typically at age 18, delve deeper into fewer subjects, enabling students to specialise in their chosen areas of study.
