Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shahbaz Gul said that on the recommendation of OGRA, the price of petrol is being increased by Rs 1.71 per liter.
He said that no increase was being made in diesel prices. The general public and farmers are more affected by the increase in diesel prices, so the summary of the increase in diesel prices has been rejected.
OGRA has sent recommendations to the Ministry of Petroleum regarding price revision.

The final decision will be taken tomorrow after consultation with the Prime Minister. The Ministry of Finance will issue a notification on the prices of new petroleum products. The new prices will take effect on August 1.
The government had also increased the price of petrol by Rs 5.40 on July 15, 2021. After an increase of Rs 5.40 per liter, the new price of petrol was Rs 118.9 per liter.
The price of diesel was increased by Rs 2.54 per liter, kerosene by Rs 1.39 per liter and light diesel by Rs 1.27 per liter.
