Kuwaits Allows PIA to Resume Flight Operation After Five Months

Pakistan International Airlines resumed flights to Kuwait from today after receiving clearance from the Gulf state.

Kuwait has put a self-imposed ban on Pakistani flights and pilots. The PIA flights were unable to go to the Gulf state due to the embargo. The Kuwaiti Airline, on the other hand, was free to operate in Pakistan.

When the PIA was denied permission to operate in Kuwait, the aviation minister, in addition to condemning Kuwait’s exploitative behaviour, ordered that Kuwait Airline’s operations in Pakistan be halted in a tit-for-tat manner.

However, now Kuwait has allowed that the PIA can operate in its territory under the pressure of the government of Pakistan and Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority.

The national flag carrier is resuming its operation in Kuwait with two flights in a week.

PIA CEO Air Marshal (retd) Rashid Malik thanked the aviation minister and secretary of CAA and senior officials of the aviation authority.

According to the foreign ministry, the PIA’s Kuwait operation was resumed due to the efforts of the Pakistani ambassador to Kuwait and their ambassador to Pakistan.
