Qatar Wins Hearts for Beginning FIFA World Cup With Recitation of Quran (Video)

A spectacular opening ceremony kicked off the 2022 FIFA World Cup Sunday night at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar.

The opening ceremony honored the nation’s religious and cultural perspectives, and the well-chosen themes left the audience in awe.

Legendary Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman and well-known Qatari influencer Ghanim Al Muftah were featured in the ceremony’s opening sequence as they talked about the value of harmony and bringing people together while Al Muftah recited a beautiful Quranic verse that captivated millions of sports fans.

Al Muftah recited, “Oh the humanity! Indeed, we have formed you from male and female and made you into people and tribes so that you may know one another.”

A verse from the Quran was read at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony for the first time ever.

During the amazing sequence, a message was conveyed about how the beautiful game can bring people together and help them put their differences aside. “The United Nations” affection for the beautiful game of football “What unites nations also unites communities,” Morgan Freeman continued.

Famous K-Pop performer JungKook of BTS fame also gave a performance during the opening ceremony. Following the glitzy opening ceremony, Ecuador defeated Qatar by a score of 2-0 in the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
