Major General Nigar Johar has been promoted to Lieutenant General, becoming the first woman in the country.
The Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations said that she has been appointed as first female Surgeon General of Pakistan Army. Lieutenant General Nigar Johar hails from Panjpeer, District Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the DG ISPR said.

In 2017, she became the third woman officer to reach the rank of major general. The lieutenant general is the daughter of Colonel Qadir, who served in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
She is also the niece of retired Major Mohammad Aamir, a former Pakistan Army officer who served in the ISI as well.
